A breathtaking estate, formerly owned by the famous director John Hughes and his wife Nancy Hughes, was sold for $13 million in August. Located on Lake Michigan, in Lake Forest, IL, His property consists of 5 bedrooms, a 5-acre lot, and 11,800 square feet total. The mansion was built in 2009 and purchased by the Hughes family in 2018. The property also includes a private beach with access to a secluded portion of Lake Michigan. They also 

have a 4-passenger tram that takes guests to the beach.  

 

John Hughes, a famous 80’s filmmaker, is well known for his movies, his hits being Home Alone, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Breakfast Club, and 16 Candles. Most of these were filmed in the Chicago-NorthShore area. John Hughes grew up in the North Shore and attended Glenbrook North High School. He never completed college, but his captivation on the screens made him appear a genius. Unfortunately, John Hughes passed away at 59 due to a fatal heart attack in 2009. Nancy had the estate built in honor of him, and a decade later, he passed away in 2019. According to confidential sources, the mansion was inherited by John Wilden  Hughes II and then went on the market for $15 million in 2022.
